R&R Watercolor

After wrapping up an all consuming project (more on that later) I needed something to center me again. Something that didn't include an entire bag of Dove chocolates (prob cause I ate em all) OR a Jillian Michaels scream fest OMG-How-Did-I-Get-This-Out-Of-Shape guilt trip spiral. Something so cathartic that I might actually feel a little zzzzzen...

Two things: being still. and water. (Ick, I'm rolling my eyes at the Buddhist-mass-appeal/horrible irony of someone like me trying to state something like that)

Let me start over. I set up some junk lying around my house and then I painted it. Afterwards, I felt pretty good.

I can't resist a photo op for Scraps. And she loves her new painting. So much that she takes naps on it.

E+S Wedding Invitation

Invitations for a very classy New Year's wedding.

It's hard to tell by my horrible photos, but these invites use beautiful textured creams and shimmer papers. I also lined all 165 of the envelopes in glittery gold paper, so when you open it up...POW! It's a party! Once you break the black satin ribbon seal, the invite folds open and a side flap contains the RSVP Card and envelope, Reception Invitation and Accommodations Card.

Sunshine Quilt

This quilt has become my King Kong. My Moby Dick. My Mt. Everest. My Sears Tower (As an adopted Chicagoan it will always be the Sears Tower to me). Basically, it's the most ginormous quilt I've ever made. This king sized quilt is loosely based on an Amy Butler quilt pattern. I started collecting fabrics for it in May and now that September is coming to a close, so is this project. Phew! I think it will be a while before I tackle another quilt of its magnitude.

Front.

Scrappy kept jumping on the quilt during the photo shoot.

Back.

She's going to be sad to see it go.

R + L Wedding Invitations

When Rachel approached me about designing her wedding invitations I thought to myself, "this is going to be good...muhahaha!" Few clients let me experiment on their wedding invites, but Rachel, being the creative adventurer that she is, gave me the go-ahead. Wahoo! My first order of business was to print them on wood. And isn't the final product so lovely? I want to print everything on wood now. My second thrill during this project was working with Emilie at Lief Design. She did all of the beautiful calligraphy.

Now that I've branched out a bit with my print production, I wonder what else I can print on besides paper...any ideas? Or maybe the better question is, anyone willing?

What I have to go through to get a decent picture...

But isn't she so cute?

Spring is here?

It's March 20th, oh no, take that back, 21st, and 85 degrees here in Chi-town. Joggers, bikers, dog walkers (that's me!), stroller pushers - none of us know what to make of this phenomenon. But from the looks of it, nobody's complaining.

Here's a shot of my neighbor's gooorgeous tree. I don't know what it is, so if anyone out there does, I'd much appreciate the shout out.

Cake or Death

Have you ever had an irrational thought that you might just DIE if you don't get something?! Most adults remember thinking that pre-kindergarten, but I have those thoughts still! And my most current craving is for these cakes. I might. just. die. if I don't get some of these prints.

Fabulous paintings by Paul Ferney.

Extra Mile Logo

When Love INC of Columbia, Missouri emerged a few years ago, few people imagined how far it would reach and how many people it would help. It's still growing and changing, but today there are three main divisions - The Love Seat, First Impressions (and the newest edition) Extra Mile.

The Love Seat is a furniture bank. First Impressions is a professional clothing closet, and Extra Mile is a one-on-one adult mentoring program. All of these services are available to those in need.

For me as a designer, what this means is a little family of logos. The first couple are drafts and the third is the final Extra Mile logo.

Below are the existing Love Seat and First Impressions logos.
